Who we are

Welcome! We are grateful that you are interested in learning about the story behind McVittie Woodworks, LLC.

My name is Seth McVittie, owner of McVittie Woodworks, located in Deckerville, Michigan. I love music and worship. I play the drums for our local worship band and am teaching myself to play guitar. I enjoy quiet time with the Lord, hunting, caring for our homestead, yard work, sports, coffee, homeschooling our children, and being active with my family. I am the program director of Lifewise Academy in Deckerville, a Christian education program that allows students to receive Bible education during school hours.

I was born and raised in the small farming town of Deckerville, Michigan. This is where I met my amazing wife and high school sweetheart, Malorie. We moved away to attend college in 2007, and eventually settled near Grand Rapids, Michigan for 13 years. There we started our beautiful family - we have 2 daughters and 1 son who are the joy of our lives.

While in Grand Rapids, I started to build different pieces of furniture for our own home. I enjoyed it so much that I started a business adventure with my dad and siblings, called McVittie Design. Unfortunately, logistical challenges with living on opposite sides of the state from my business partners and limitations with free time forced me to step away from building.

The Lord called us back to Deckerville in 2020, providing a house right across the road from my parents’ house. Then in 2024, we renovated my grandparents’ farmhouse and moved again - across the road and next to my childhood home. In addition to being called back to Deckerville, the Lord has called me back into woodworking. He has given me this business idea, and I am walking it out in faith. This is the start of McVittie Woodworks, a God centered, kingdom focused, family-oriented wood working business. I enjoy watching a pile of rough-cut lumber transform into its final product through patience, hard work, and love.

My desire is to use the talents God has given me to turn His beautiful creation into pieces of furniture that families can gather around together. I envision these pieces being passed down from generation to generation. I’m beyond exited to see how God uses McVittie Woodworks!
